Physical Therapist Assistants work under the direction of the physical therapist to meet the physical therapy needs of the public.  These needs include improving patient mobility, relieving pain, lessening the functional limitations that occur as a result of physical disability.  The profession also includes health and wellness promotion, public education, and injury and disability prevention.

  • 94.5% of enrolled students graduate
  • 89% of graduates pass their licensure examination
  • 100% of licensed graduates are employed within 6 months of licensure
  • U.S. Dept. of Labor projects that between 2014 and 2024, the profession of Physical Therapist Assistant will grow 41% nationwide, which is considered to be “much faster than average”.  Parade magazine identified the profession of Physical Therapist Assistant to be its fastest growing occupation in the 2016 What People Earn issue, published Sunday, April 10, 2016.
  • Program has averaged 95 applicants over the past three years for 16 available slots
  • Approximately 1/3 of each class is male, 2/3 is female

Salary Range

New workers start around $48,358. Normal pay is $62,809 per year. Highly experienced workers can earn up to $82,866 (source: lightcast.com).

 

What Hours Would I Work?

  • Normal work week 8-5, Monday-Friday. 
  • Some employers require Saturday and Sunday hours.
